Shih Tzu

The Shih Tzu is a traditional dog breed with origins in the Tibetan region. As early as the 7th century, similar dogs were kept in monasteries as temple guardians. The name “Shih Tzu” translates to “little lion” – inspired by a Buddhist legend in which a dog could transform into a lion. In China, the breed was refined over centuries – today’s Shih Tzu is an elegant, small dog with a strong character. Despite his compact size, he is confident, playful, and alert. His long coat, combined with his calm nature, makes him a charming presence in everyday family life.
For restful retreats, a cozy dog basket with orthopaedic reversible mattress (fleece and cotton sides) is ideal – fully washable at 95 °C. Extra coziness is provided by fluffy fleece security blankets, which integrate perfectly in both the basket and on the sofa. As a flexible alternative, a dog cushion is a great choice – either ergonomically soft (GreenLabel) or orthopaedically supportive (RedLabel), with modern design and always hygienically washable.
For outings, the Shih Tzu is also well equipped: the carrier bags from Doctor Bark combine safety, comfort, and a pleasant interior climate. They are ideal for city visits, travel, or relaxed café moments and can be fully cleaned at 95 °C – ensuring lasting hygiene and freshness.
Doctor Bark provides thoughtful products for small, strong-character breeds like the Shih Tzu – from orthopaedic baskets and ergonomic cushions to versatile fleece blankets and carrier bags.
