Rhodesian Ridgeback

The Rhodesian Ridgeback is the only breed recognized by the FCI with origins in southern Africa. Originally bred for lion hunting and farm protection, it impresses with courage, endurance, and great loyalty. Its task was to hold game at bay until the hunter arrived – hence the nickname “lion dog.”
The breed’s hallmark is the characteristic ridge along its back – its defining feature. Ridgebacks are sensitive, intelligent, and independent. Their training requires consistency, patience, and a close emotional bond. With sufficient exercise, tasks, and rest periods, they develop into loyal and reliable companions.
For large, muscular dogs like the Ridgeback, an orthopaedic dog bed with a removable mattress is recommended. Both bed and mattress are fully washable at 95 °C – robust, hygienic, and suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Alternatively, an orthopaedic dog mattress with a waterproof, 95 °C washable fleece cover provides maximum joint relief – also ideal in a dog trailer.
In addition, a dog blanket offers extra comfort and protection for floor, sofa, or on the go. It is versatile, dimensionally stable, durable, and machine washable at 95 °C. For transport, the car boot protector with noise-reducing thermal padding, all-side protection, and integrated bumper guard reliably protects the vehicle.
For an imposing yet sensitive character like the Rhodesian Ridgeback, Doctor Bark provides thoughtful rest and transport solutions: orthopaedic dog beds and mattresses, durable dog blankets, as well as functional car solutions – all hard-wearing, easy to care for, and machine washable.
