Lhasa Apso

The Lhasa Apso, also known as Tibet’s “lion dog,” has a long history as a temple guardian in the Himalayas. In Tibet, it was regarded as a sacred animal with protective qualities. The breed reached Europe in the early 20th century, quickly gaining popularity thanks to its striking appearance and independent nature.
With its straight, dense coat, compact build, and confident demeanor, the Lhasa Apso often looks larger than it really is. Standing around 25 cm at the shoulder, it is alert, independent, and loyal to its people. Despite a calm temperament, it has plenty of spirit and a strong personality.
