Hovawart

The Hovawart is a traditional German working dog. In the 1920s, Kurt Friedrich König reconstructed the breed from old farm dogs, deliberately crossing in Newfoundlands, Leonbergers, and German Shepherds. The goal was a confident, resilient, and protective dog with a strong family bond.
Today, the Hovawart is a versatile companion – whether as a guard, protection, rescue, or tracking dog. Despite his watchful nature, he is balanced, friendly, and strongly attached to his family. He requires both physical and mental activity – as well as an ergonomic resting place suited to his strong build.
The orthopaedic dog bed from Doctor Bark offers a stable mattress with a comfortable, joint-friendly surface for large dogs. Both mattress and cover are fully washable at 95 °C – hygienic and durable.
As a flexible alternative, the orthopaedic dog cushion is ideal. It is completely machine washable at 95 °C and optionally available with a waterproof cover (with or without fleece) – perfect for active dogs.
For car journeys, the car seat covers from Doctor Bark provide comfort and cleanliness. Sound-absorbing, thermally insulating, odour-neutral, and machine washable at 95 °C – whether on the back seat or in the boot.
For strong dogs with high demands, Doctor Bark offers orthopaedic beds, washable cushions, and functional car seat covers – well-designed, robustly made, and developed in Germany.
