Flat-Coated Retriever

The Flat-Coated Retriever was purposefully bred in the 19th century in Great Britain as a versatile hunting helper – with a focus on water work and retrieving. Before World War II, it was particularly popular with the British aristocracy. Later displaced by the Labrador and Golden Retriever, it made a comeback in the 1980s as a charming family dog with a sporty character.
The “Flat” – as enthusiasts call him – is friendly, intelligent and loves swimming or retrieving dummies. He is energetic, child-friendly and eager to please his people. Those who provide exercise, closeness and variety will be rewarded with a loyal and cheerful companion.
After training or outdoor adventures, the Flat-Coated Retriever benefits from a comfortable dog bed from Doctor Bark – machine-washable, allergy-friendly and available in various sizes. Additionally, an ergonomic dog cushion provides targeted relief and a cozy resting place.
For on the go or as a flexible solution at home, a versatile dog blanket is ideal: space-saving, easy to unfold and with a familiar scent. Especially for retrievers, this creates a sense of security – whether in the living room, garden or on a picnic.
For frequent car rides, protect the back seat or boot with a car seat cover with all-side protection. It is non-slip, noise-dampening, prevents odors and makes entry easier thanks to protective side flaps – for more comfort and cleanliness on every journey.
All Doctor Bark products are machine-washable (60 °C / 95 °C), dryer-safe and long-lasting – ensuring hygienic cleanliness after every outing.
