Bichon Frisé

The Bichon Frisé most likely originated from the Canary Islands. Italian settlers are said to have brought it to Europe as early as the 14th century. Its ancestors were even known in ancient Egypt. In the 1930s, the Bichon Frisé became very popular in France. In 1933 it received its present name – roughly translated as “curly lapdog.” In Germany, the first litter was born in Bremen in 1956.
The Bichon Frisé is a cheerful, lively dog that loves to play, romp, and learn new things. Known for being particularly child-friendly, it adapts well to family routines – knowing exactly when it’s time to rest. He avoids hectic environments and seeks retreat when needed. His greatest passion: cuddling! Despite his compact size, he is alert but never yappy. With strangers, he is friendly and always ready to enjoy a pet – whether from adults or children.
As an elegant little companion dog, the Bichon Frisé loves cosy resting spots. Doctor Bark offers classic dog beds, as well as cuddly dog cushions, which can even be personalised on request. Also very popular among small breeds is the orthopaedic basket bed – a soft retreat with a supportive edge and fleece reversible cushion. All products are washable at 95 °C and remain permanently hygienic – perfect for small dogs with high care needs.
