German Shepherd

The German Shepherd is one of the world’s most recognized and versatile working dogs. Its ancestors came from the regions of Thuringia and Württemberg, where they served as guard and herding dogs. Selective breeding began in the 19th century with the male “Horand von Grafrath,” who became the first entry in the breeding register of the Verein für Deutsche Schäferhunde.
The breed was primarily developed for working ability, self-confidence, resilience and a balanced temperament. Thanks to these traits, it is still employed today by police, customs, military and rescue services – while also being a loyal, vigilant family dog with strong bonding instincts.
Active, powerful dogs like the German Shepherd need stable, ergonomic resting places. The orthopaedic dog beds from Doctor Bark provide not only sufficient space but also joint-friendly support and lasting shape stability – perfect for demanding everyday use. Additionally, an orthopaedic dog cushion is recommended as an extra or mobile resting surface.
For training, duty or leisure trips, the dog car blanket from Doctor Bark ensures optimal protection inside the vehicle. The non-slip surface provides the German Shepherd with comfort and safety – even during energetic entry and exit.
All products of the Red Label series are machine-washable at 95 °C – reliably removing germs, mites and odors. For care, Doctor Bark’s specially developed detergent is ideal: biodegradable, skin-friendly and highly effective. This keeps the sleeping environment hygienically clean – even for hard-working service dogs.
For all Red Label products – including orthopaedic beds and cushions – Doctor Bark grants a 10-year warranty on material and workmanship quality.
