German Longhaired Pointer
The German Longhaired Pointer is a traditional, versatile hunting dog, valued for its intelligence, eagerness to learn and calm temperament. He loves freedom of movement and should be able to run, track and work for several hours a day. When mentally and physically challenged, he proves to be a reliable partner in the hunting field and a pleasant companion in everyday life.
As a pure family dog, he is only conditionally suitable – especially if his hunting instincts are not satisfied. In hunting-active households, however, the German Longhaired Pointer unfolds his full potential: friendly, attentive, confident and obedient. His strong build and dense, high-maintenance coat require an environment that meets both his activity and rest needs.
After an intensive hunting day, this robust dog needs a place where his muscles can regenerate.
