Bull Terrier

The breeding of the Bull Terrier began in the 19th century in Birmingham, England—originally intended for dog fighting. A local animal dealer started by selectively crossing different terrier breeds. Fortunately, dog fighting is now banned, and modern breeders focus on the Bull Terrier as a balanced, loving family dog.
Its most striking feature is its egg-shaped, flattened head, which gives it a unique appearance. The breed has no fixed standard for body measurements, though back length often ranges between 55 and 65 cm. Its muscular build and confident demeanor make it look imposing—yet its nature is surprisingly friendly, affectionate, and people-oriented.
Contrary to common prejudice, the Bull Terrier is not an aggressive dog. As Prof. Dr. Hans-Joachim Hackbarth from the University of Veterinary Medicine Hanover emphasizes, Bull Terriers show “hardly any aggressive behavior” compared to other breeds—thanks to a mandatory temperament test that has long been part of breeding standards.
For robust, medium-sized dogs like the Bull Terrier, Doctor Bark offers suitable accessories: the thermal dog blanket provides a warm, non-slip resting place on the sofa or floor—especially pleasant for short coats. In addition, washable, dimensionally stable dog cushions are ideal for use at home or on the go. For maximum comfort—especially for active or older dogs—the orthopaedic dog bed is recommended, providing targeted muscle support and washable at 95 °C.
All Doctor Bark products are dermatologically tested and combine comfort with functionality—ideal for strong-character dogs like the Bull Terrier, who value clear structures and a fixed resting place.
